Application for Direct Satelite System
In 1994 Thomson Consumer Electronics rolled out the first ever digital direct satellite system for consumers. In addition to the promise of enormous channel capacity, the system offered the potential to deliver interactive applications such as on-screen channel guides, shopping, and other consumer services.
With a credible history, and proven track record of designing and producing broadband applications, Creative Perspectives offered the right credentials for tackling a state-of-the-art demonstration for Thomson's new technology.
Thomson gave Creative Perspectives free reign when it came to choosing and designing a demonstration service. Creative Perspectives created the conceptual application - The Passport Wine Shop - which was designed as a live simulation of Thomson's DSS technology. Using the Passport Wine Shop, consumers might select a wine by region, receive tips on selecting wines, storing wines and tasting. Each selection was supported through on-screen graphics and narration.
The demonstration was well received and helped Thomson showcase their DSS technology.
