Broadslate Networks sales promotion

In the mid-90’s, Broadslate Networks, entered the market as a regional pioneer in business-class DSL Internet services. With an established field sales force, and a relatively uneducated market, Broadslate needed a means to communicate their service offering. They turned to Creative Perspectives to create an interactive CD-ROM that would support their sales efforts. The goal of the project was to both describe the technical advantages of DSL and showcase some of the unique network services enabled by DSL.

The CD-ROM was equally well-received by Broadslate’s sales team and their customers. The sales team appreciated the custom video, animation and live demos that helped them differentiate and distinguish DSL from the dial-up and ISDN connections that were the norm at the time. Customers found the explanation of Broadslate's DSL services so compelling that the company had to reprint the CD-ROM several times.

Among the innovative features of the CD-ROM were two simulations - one that allowed customers to experience the speed and time savings of DSL compared to dial-up. The second was a “cost calculator” that enabled customers to assign a cost benefit to switching from dial-up to DSL. The educational component of the CD helped customers grasp the technical aspects of DSL. In addition, the CD-ROM contained a built-in link to Broadslate’s website that enabled customers to request information with a single mouse click. Throughout, video narration helped perform as a “stand-in” sales support person - leading the user from section to section.
